The Office of Dr. Bernard Fialkoff DDS participated in the Partnership for Healthy Mouths, Healthy Lives (http://www.healthymouthshealthylives.org/) and the Ad Council's (http://www.adcouncil.org/) "Health Mouths, Healthy Lives" Campaign this past week by presenting an oral health care event at the Colonial Church of Bayside's After-School Program to elementary-aged children.
Dr. Fialkoff went over basic oral health care with the children asking them if they knew the definition of "plaque" and "cavities," how often they are supposed to brush their teeth each day, how to floss as well as instructed on various other dental information. With the help of Victor Mimoni of Councilman Dan Halloran's Office and Meghan Fialkoff of Dr. Fialkoff's Office, Dr. Fialkoff showed the students the "Healthy Mouths, Healthy Lives" posters to the students. He also donated an American Dental Association poster to the after-school that gave a step-by-step guide on how to brush your teeth.
Philips Oral Health donated Sonicare for Kids Toothbrushes to the children and Michael Calia of Philips showed the students how to use the brush. He also played the toothbrushes tune for the students as the Sonicare for Kids plays music while brushing!
At the end of the presentation, Dr. Fialkoff gave out student completion certificates to all the children for having participated in the "Healthy Mouths, Healthy Lives" (http://www.2min2x.org/) oral health care event.
Dr. Fialkoff conducted the oral health care event for the students to support this new, national campaign.
